Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid vital to the formation of Nitric oxide, which is responsible for vascular dilation and second messenger signalling. Nitric Oxide has become quite popular in bodybuilding for its ability to contribute to incredible "pumps". Dilation of blood vessels allow for more rich blood to reach starved tissues in need of nutrients. It also plays a vital role in male sexual arousal, without which erections would be impossible. Attaching an Ethyl Ester to an Arginine molecule increases absorption and bioavailability of the Arginine molecule, making smaller dosages possible. As with any NO precursors, the breakdown of Nitric Oxide forms nasty molecules called Reactive Nitrogen Species, like Peroxynitrate. Reactive Nitrogen Radicals cause damage to tissue and DNA. Adequate intake of Anti-oxidants specifically designed to combat Reactive Nitrogen Species - like Syntrax's Radox - is highly recommended. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but it tastes like salty bleach. I even threw a whole bunch of Crystal Light in there and still, salty bleach. I never have had a problem handling bad tasting supplements. It's something we all have to deal with. This however, is too much. The smell is bad and the taste is unbearable. I know some people will probably say to just suck it up because normally I'm the first to say that. But this is beyond my limits. I love NutraPlanet, the great prices, and the prompt shipping, but I do feel that this product I received is not for human consumption. |
