Better Protein Bars (12 Bar Mix)Protein bars are a great idea, but since their conception they have been flawed. They are high priced; full of sugar; loaded with additives and preservatives; disguised with sugar alcohol; and, more often than not, they are just a candy bar with added protein. Even the protein, in most protein bars on the market, are sub par. For decades, no one had addressed the problems of today’s protein bars. It’s been nothing but more of the same over priced, fancy packed, tasteless bars. Until Now! But the magic doesn’t stop there! With a few simple modifications to its original recipe any Better Protein Bar pack can be changed to fit any of your caloric needs or taste satisfaction. All of the Better Protein Bar packs original recipes, modified recipes, and caloric breakdowns are made simple; listed for you right here at (Need To’s Kitchen). The options for the different flavors and variations that you can add in and try are LIMITLESS. The original bars have ALSO been made into two NEW pre-packaged flavor varieties that are now available as well, chocolate banana and chocolate raspberry. By: SeanReview posted on: Sun Feb 06 15:43:12 -0500 2011 I was looking for a protein bar with high calories that I could eat throughout the day while on rotation at the hospital. Being a medical student I don't find much time to eat. What attracted me the most about these bars was the price. I ordered the butterscotch for $12.95, plus you end up using about $4-5 worth of peanut butter and honey. So, $17-18 for 12 bars, that's a pretty good deal. Making these things is a bit of a pain and I ended up washing my hands and just mixing the batch with my hands because a spoon wasn't cutting it. But once they are made they refridgerate nicely and they always had a moist taste to them even when they were in my pocket all day, so this is a plus. However, the price recently jumped to $16.99. So when you add in the $4-5 worth of peanut butter and honey you are looking at $21-22 for 12 bars. Which to me, I'm not sure if it is worth it because I can just buy 12 pre-packaged bars for $24. And yes, there are some decent ones out there with decently healthy nutrition profile and not loaded with sugars and bad fats, not to mention the convenience of not having to make them or cut them where some bars may have more or less calories then another. As for the taste, they are pretty good for a protein bar. So in conclusion, at $16.99 I'm a bit indifferent and will probably just stick to a prepackaged bar. If they were to lower the price back to $12 then I would order them more often. The best protein bar made!! I dare anyone to find a better bar for the money. |
