Customer Reviews: KWICK KARB (Waxy Maize Starch) (VALUE SIZE 3.3 lb) by NutraPlanet
Post-Workout Nutrition By: ChrisReview posted on: Sun Aug 10 23:06:00 -0400 2008 During the post-workout window, glycogen stores are depleted. In this state, the body will readily shuttle all carbs consumed toward muscle tissue in order to replenish those stores. Fast-digesting carbs are best at this time because the post-workout window to reload glycogen is limited, so speed of absorption is a virtue. The insulin spike is also a virtue because it transports glucose/amino acids/creatine/etc. to muscle cells. Also, if you consume in the neighborhood of 100 grams of carbs for this post-workout feeding, well, that's an assload of oats. Sixty to ninety grams of waxy maize, however, goes down quick and easy with zero stomach discomfort. Fast carbs are only consumed around workout time (specifically post-, and for some bodybuilders, pre- and during). Slow carbs (like oats) are the rule at every other meal. Insulin resistance will not occur on such a protocol, and neither will fat gain. Bodybuilders like myself who have been doing this for years without fat gain are a testament to its effectiveness. And quite frankly, it's among the most basic rules of sports nutrition. We're talking about Bodybuilding 101 here. Essential By: RobertReview posted on: Tue Nov 13 16:55:05 -0500 2007 I try and buy all my supplements from NutraPlanet. If they don't carry it - I ask them to consider stocking it. You buy 200$ and you get it shipped free -- I always shoot for that. Their products always arrive promptly and on my last order they threw in a NutraPlanet Tshirt (nice Tshirt - thanks guys) This is an essential part of pre/post nutrient delivery. Make everything you do count the most Try Slow Digestion Carbs for Lean Gains By: ChristopherReview posted on: Sun Aug 10 00:07:09 -0400 2008 There's comment misconception that fast digesting carbs is the way to go. In theory they are because they are absorbed fast within the boodstream. This causes an insulin spike, which is what they make you think you need. Insulin spikes cause weight gain and promotes fat deposits. You can laugh as much as you like but its pure nutrition, pure science - and not what companies tell you. If you are just looking for pure mass with little deffinition then good for it. But beware. Constant intake of high-glycemic over long periods of time will lead to insulin resistance, and again is pure nutrition. If you are looking for a lean physique, try slow digesting carbs. This will have a lower insulin responce, and will keep fat deposits down. Also, the carbs when taken with protein will spare aminos for your muscle tissue and still replenish glycogen. Otherwise the aminos from the protein will be used by your body as energy. Or try a mixture if you like. 50:50 fast to slow if you feel that works best. I'm trying to give another option that some company or magazine won't push. It's just nutrition. Correction By: JeffReview posted on: Mon Apr 12 22:55:23 -0400 2010 I reviewed this product last week and I stated the taste was bad... I was wrong about this. I mix this product with my protein and CEE creatine. This new creatine was causing the horrible taste.. not the waxy maize. I also meant to give it 5 stars. Great product. This by far the best product I have used in a long time. Love how great I feel post-workout after taking this stuff. Love It By: JeffReview posted on: Tue Apr 06 20:58:32 -0400 2010 I have tried almost everything for my post workout shakes. I absolutely love this stuff. Maltodextrin and Dextrose made me blow up and feel bloated... I take 1 scoop of Waxy Maize with my protein 45 min before my workout and then 2 scoops with protein after my workout. My muscles feel great after taking the product. I got to say the taste is horrible. Even mixed with my protein causes me to make the "god this tastes horrible" face. But it is well worth it! Five stars all the way! This stuff is a bber best friend By: TimReview posted on: Wed Apr 01 21:07:35 -0400 2009 I love this stuff. Mixes well and very easy to flavor to make more palitable. Its great pre, intra, and pwo. Mix in some bcaa and you got the complete package. Love It, but wheres the instructions? By: DustinReview posted on: Thu Feb 19 17:34:04 -0500 2009 Great stuff. Mixes well in my on shake with just water. Great alternative vs sugar for my quick carbs. But where are the instructions and the scoop? I am using a on scoop which shows to be 38grams per scoop on that label. Other wise awesome product. how to take it & where is the scoop? By: TamerReview posted on: Wed Feb 18 08:17:32 -0500 2009 Guys, i bought Kwick Karb WMS but can someone tell me how am i supposed to take it? these is no scoop provided and there is no instruction label on the product!!! Great PWO By: BenReview posted on: Mon Dec 29 14:12:40 -0500 2008 This stuff always works great for me and comes at a great price. The reason I felt the need to add a review is to persuade anyone who thinks that slow digesting carbs are better PWO to try this stuff. Im sitting at 175 lbs, under 7% bodyfat and have been bulking (1000 calories over maintainance) for several months. This has not caused me to gain much, if any, fat, and Ive been eating too much, which accounts for any fat I have gained. Ive never tried slow digesting carbs PWO, purely because it doesnt make any sense and I refuse to waste my workouts trying it. Buy this stuff, take it back with some creatine and aminos PWO, then your whey in 20-30. Youll feel great Solid By: MikeReview posted on: Sat Dec 27 21:09:01 -0500 2008 Great value and good quality. A few WMS products I bought, the quality was iffy or varied from batch to batch. Kwick Karb is consitantly a good product at a good value. I think we are all aware of the benefits. but it quickly replenished glycogen storage. I do an AP 20 minutes before and then 80-90 grams and I'm good to go. GREAT PRODUCT!!! BY AnabolicAlpha By: ShaunReview posted on: Sat Jul 19 18:12:25 -0400 2008 Ok first off oats are not good for PWO you need fast digesting carbs which WMS is the fastest there is. Maltodextrin is the next but anyways this product does'nt have a taste and mixes well without clumping!!! Its the best WMS i've come accross, great good NutriPlanet!!! GREAT INVESTMENT! By: DerekReview posted on: Wed Jul 02 10:38:51 -0400 2008 It costs $12.50 it doesnt have much of a taste at all and more importantly it does exactly what I need it to! The best 12 and a half dollars I have ever spent! Kwick carb By: RyanReview posted on: Tue Nov 13 16:55:31 -0500 2007 This product is great for pump and recovery. However it has a very chalky taste. I find that it needs to be mixed with a drink with very strong flavor. Its awkward taste is it's biggest downfall. Great Post-Workout Carb By: BillReview posted on: Tue Nov 13 16:55:15 -0500 2007 Great for post-workout. It's cheap and effective. Works alot better for me than dextrose and maltodex. They made me add belly fat while Waxy Maize makes my muscles full and my waist the same. WMS By: RobertReview posted on: Tue Nov 13 16:55:10 -0500 2007 I cant really tell any difference between this and my "usual" ground up oats. It works, but oats are cheaper. I also seem to get a lot of gas from WMS. Your mileage may vary. good product By: dustinReview posted on: Tue Nov 13 16:55:01 -0500 2007 a little chalky but hey it's WMS very cost effective and it mixes pretty well in a shaker cup I prefer oats but it's quick and easy great for post workout shake!! |
